Well, I'm taking the plunge. I'm going to drop XP and load Windows 2003 tonight. I want all 4 gigs of my ram and dangit I'm going to have them one way or another. Not to mention that it just will make my life a lot easier...

People who don't understand how awesome Firefox is have never used CPhog. The act of using CPhog alone doesn't make Firefox cool. It opens your eyes to the possibilities and then you start looking for other things like CPhog and your eyes are suddenly open to all sorts of useful things all through Firefox. - (Self Quote)

It's slow by comparison. When I worked for a major company here in Boise I could download 2 gigs in about 3 minutes and no I'm not making that up. I have no clue what the connection was to support that but boy were those the days. ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!;)

      Pick your level of Zoom. Personally I think OC-192 could be interesting. :) T-1 - 1.544 megabits per second T-3 - 43.232 megabits per second OC-3 - 155 megabits per second OC-12 - 622 megabits per second OC-48 - 2.5 gigabits per seconds OC-192 - 9.6 gigabits per second

I would love to play games but in the past 2 years I haven't had any chance to. I think my kids probably occupy the game slot. I mess with them instead.

I'm on a 10 meg per second connection. The download should take less than 30 minutes. I think I downloaded VS2005 in under an hour. I'm shooting those numbers off my hip but they are close...

Good backups my arse. I'm pulling the drives and using brand new ones. A rollback will be as complicated as putting the other drives back in.

I did that couple of years ago ... and haven't regretted ever since. One critical point of consideration is that after the upgrade, you'll lose all your Windows games -- Solitaire, Hearts, Free Cell, MineSweeper -- so you may want to rethink your decision twice :-D - Malhar

If I had time for games then my kids wouldn't be getting enough of my time. So I think I'll work when it's time to work and spend my remaining time with them.:rose:

I thought you were going to say you were moving to Winodws Vista as it would be something new :) You will find out though that not all software will run on WIndows 2003 server. Many of Microsofts new test titles only work on XP. I wanted to try out a few and had to load them on my laptop. For web development though it is pretty cool as I can have hundreds of sites active on the one dev machine at a time. Rocky <>< Latest Post: SQL2005 Server Managemnet Studio timeouts! Just remember this is a server operating system and be aware of the driver issues. I just installed a dual graphics card and had trouble with the drivers. Had to take back the first board and order one online that works Check out the R2 version of 2k3 has some new features such a storage. Have fun Bob
