I don't think I'd want thousands of tabs opening on their own and all at once. Not a good idea.

Not as far as I know, but if you have a mouse with a wheel, you can click the links with the wheel button and they will open in another tab (without the tab being brought into focus). Another tip: click a tab (the header) with the mouse wheel and it closes.

....as a FireFox extension that allows one to copy text off a web page and keep the underlying html intact?

That could be a little tricky. How much markup would you keep? If you selected a few words in a paragraph, would you want to keep all the paragraph formatting (text colour, background, blah blah blah...)? Would you keep the document background? If so, would you want the background image to be aligned in the same spot as it was in the entire document? It's easy enough to extract the source code for a particular part of a document, but if you select across tags, you're gonna end up with unmatched (invalid) HTML.

Well, I would expect that you'd have to take your chances at that point. I don't have the answers, I'm the idea man... :)

select, copy will do it, provided whatever you're pasting into accepts a HTML clipboard format. So if you're pasting into a forum that provides a rich-text entry form, that'll be enough. Otherwise, you might want to try something like this: http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/[^]

I was looking for something like this too. What it need to do is apply inline styles and eliminate all embedded and referenced styles. Tell me if you find something like this :)**

xacc.ide-0.1.3.12 - Now a whole lot faster (and better)
Consolas size screenshots (see how fractional font sizes look)
