you can buy an adapter which does all the work for you. Mostly those adapters are created for use all over the world and they're not that expenseive either. I'm currently working in the US on my 'European' laptop :-). What you do is take a multi-plug with you and use that with an adapter, this way, you can use more of your electrical devices :-). Have fun! Coulda, woulda, shoulda doesn't matter if you don't. :beer:

Look at the markings on the power brick, if it says that it accepts 220V/50Hz then all you'll need is a physical adaptor for the plug. Any recently-made portable device should work this way. Even my electric razor accepts 240V/50Hz.

As far as I'm aware only the UK is the odd-one-out. We have square three-pin square plugs where as the rest of Europe has round 2 or 3 pin plugs.

I just travelled to France and my power supply did accept 220V -- It should be written on it actually. You just need a passive adapter to fit to their funny outlets. Denevers

If you are travelling to UK, then you need to have a different adapter to the rest of Europe. The UK has rectangular 3 pins, while the rest of Europe has round pins (if I remember right). Either way UK is different to rest of Europe.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked the power supply on my laptop and it says 110-240V. So a passive adapter for mainland europe it is. Cologne and The Hague, here I come! :) BW

You can also do Asia as well. I'm leaving for Hong Kong in a few weeks and my laptop, iPod, and cell phone all support 100-240v. I just needed something to convert the US 3 pin configuration to the appropriate pins. Brigg Thorp Senior Software Engineer Timex Corporation
