Is this a genuine concern? I've heard it too but I don't see it in the stores that have 360s on display with plasma screens. Just wondering myself before I make a mistake on a TV I'll have to replace in a month;P ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done. i have also seen 360's in plasma's everywhere , plasma's now have a tech. - Auto Pixel Shift (Burn In Resistant) so i believe that is taking care of burns. anyway will update with my experience soon :) and i have 30 days to test drive it ------------------------------------------------------------- Rule # 17: Omit Needless Words - Strunk, William, Jr. ------------------------------------------------------------- Universal DBA ^

768 lines is good for $2k, the only thing to watch is that palsmas are prone to burn in, be careful using for your PC. That's all I can think of. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

Contrary to popular opinion, they do in fact still burn in. In particular if you watch a lot of non HD stuff on an HD screen you get a burn in rectangle in the center. You only notice it really when you use an all white screen saver but it's still annoying that it happens. Some networks use gray bars on the sides instead of all black when they broadcast a non hd program on an hd chanell which is a start but most don't and there is still a ton of stuff that is non hd at all unfortunately.

Yes they do burn in, the pixel shift feature is useful only for very small items on screen, something large enough, i.e. bigger than your little finger tip is going to burn in because the pixels only shift a slight amount. And in general anything that stays in one place on the screen for a long period of time is very likely to be too big for the pixel shift to do anything about. I have a brand new plasma from christmas that is burned in due to watching non-hd programming, but it's not noticeable unless the screen is all white, then you see two lighter bars on either side where the non hd picture doesn't go. I was super careful with it, used the screen saver etc, but you just can't do anything about non hd programming that doesn't fill the screen, at least not on our satellite receiver. The tv only allows you to stretch the image if it's a non hd source.
