My all time favorite, for quite some time, has been "Letdown", by Radiohead, off their 1997 "Ok Computer". Not quite sure what it is about that song, but it always give me goosebumps.

I went to see them last night, and they played Let Down! Unfortunately Thom forgot the 2nd verse, which was the only glitch in an otherwise spectacular show. :)

Seriously? He should have played it off by pointing the microphone at the audience. I've seen them once, on their Kid-A tour. The last time they came around here (Atlanta), the tickets were upwards of $60, and I just didn't have that kind of cash to spend on a concert at that point. I'm hoping they come through Atlanta on the new album's tour. I'd like to see them again. -- Russell Morris Morbo: "WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!"

One of my favorites was Bob Segar's Turn The Page, until Metallica got their grubby mitts on it and sucked all the feeling out of it. I dig James and the boys, but they really should not cover tunes outside of the hard rock/metal genre. I don't have a greatest song ever, but these 3 always demand my attention and can take me somewhere else no matter what I'm doing: What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong Come Rain or Come Shine by Johnny Mercer, current favorite arrangement by BB King/Clapton Georgia on my Mind by Ray Charles BW

What about Ray Charles' version of Come Rain or Come Shine? I hear that one a lot on the local jazz station.

That looks like an abbreviated schedule - I can only hope they're going to do a full tour of the US at some point later. Manchester, Tennesse, is the closest gig to me in that list, and I just can't justify the ticket price + hotel :( -- Russell Morris Morbo: "WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!"

The schedule is correct but they have also said they will be touring next year when the album comes out... BTW, Thom Yorke has a solo album out in July - called "The Eraser" - more beats and electronica style.

There's no hotel, it's at the Bonaroo festival. I don't know that I'd go put up with that for even my favorite bands.

"Fade to Black" - Metallica Anyone else feel this way? I hadn't heard it in a couple years. Just finished ripping my cd collection, and it came up on my mp3 player this morning. Must have listened to it 5 or 6 times in a row. I had forgotten how much of an effect that song had on me as a kid - it was the one tune I always relied on when things got bad. I still remember sitting for hours with my guitar trying to learn that opening lead.

Can never settle on one, but some left out: Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Julio Iglesias - Vincent (Starry, starry night) Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe Rod Stewart - People Get Ready (and I'm not religious. Go figure.) Elvis - In The Ghetto (a shiver song) Orbital - Funny Break (and many other tracks by this great band) Yello - Santiago Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper Blancmange - Don't Tell Me (and others) The Who - Behind Blue Eyes, The Quiet One, or Baba O'Riley Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead Or Alive (a shiver song) Wang Chung - Wait Skylab 2000 - Smile Queensryche - Silent Lucidity Billy Idol - Prodigal Blues (and others when the mood hits) Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly Queen - Another One Bites the Dust (and other Queen stuff) Celine Dion - Fly (and some others) (also a shiver song) Astral Projection - Ambient Galaxy (and a bunch more) Amethystium's songs Bobby Vinton - Born Free Boston - Foreplay & Long Time (The best intro EVER created. In case you missed it the first time - It has the best intro ever created. Elton John's 'Funeral For a Friend' is close, though.) Pete Townsend - Let My Love Open The Door and more...
