Worldwide citizenship question...
-
With the recent announcement of Albert Pascual's new American citizenship, I have become curious as to just how universal this citizenship ceremony is. I know that the CP board contains people from all over our planet. Albert says that there were 7k people (did I read that right?) at his ceremony. Is it just the United States that attracts this desire, or are there other countries with mass citizenship ceremonies? Any statistics? Please, I am not being sarcastic in any way - truly curious. In Australia, we have naturalisation ceremonies, but I've never known for people to go through that on the level of 7k at a time. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

The United States (despite what people think/say) is still a land of tremendous opportunity. There's no other place I'd rather be. I'm not dissing any other country nor am I putting my nose up in the air. I'm as frustrated as the rest of you with some of the U.S. foreign affairs at the moment. I support my president and my country but right now I'm sure frustrated. Anyway, 7000 people seems like no big deal when you consider that the world is growing exponentially. Ceremonial head-counts should be going up all over the world. But the United States of America totally ROCKS!!! It's my home, I'm staying and loving it. :rose:
If we all used the Plain English compiler every post in the lounge would be a programming question.

I recently became a (proud and happy) Canadian.:-D In the ceremony there were around 80 people. Canada receives an average of 250 000 imigrants a year. From these around 75% end up staying. I don't know how many become citizens. In a time when so many countries (Russia, a good part of Europe, etc) are loosing people it is not bad at all. And just like any other Canadian, there is no other place I'd prefer to live. Rui A. Rebelo I don't smoke, don't gamble, don't sniff, don't drink and don't womanize. My only defect is that I lie just a little bit, sometimes. Tim Maia (brazilian pop singer)

For comparison, My city alone (Fort Worth, Texas) grew by 45,000 people last year. And that does NOT include the surrounding smaller communities. They have to be comming from somewhere. Not where I live. Our downtown areas are alive and well with plenty of night life (my assumption of your question here.) "Every new day begins with possibilities. It's up to us to fill it with things that move us toward progress and peace.” (Ronald Reagan)

Exactly. But can you please tell me which is the worst place in US where you'd hear gun shots too often , or you could see street fights?

I am. In my opinion, anyone supporting bush or the american government should get a head check. You don't need a Phd to realise that bush and the actions of the american government (driven by mammon) pose real danger to life as we know it. It's common sense. Where will it end? Where will the next war be? Don't be fooled by your televisions. No one will ever know anything - anon

NO, because by the time it is reported, authorities here have reacted. World wide I will advise you to stay away from locations known to be gang boundaries.

You are watching to much TV fiction, I believe. "Every new day begins with possibilities. It's up to us to fill it with things that move us toward progress and peace.” (Ronald Reagan)

I believe that you are a citizen of wherever you pay tax - so I have just renewed my Irish citizenship (Man, that's an expensive membership rate[^], good job it's so pretty[^]) However, you are a native/national of whatever country you support in the world cup, which is why I'll be installing this wallpaper[^] on all my PCs.
