There are various parts of my job that require sitting and waiting for a thing to finish (VS 2005 compile times for example. Bring some food for that.) I find myself constantly hitting CP for stuff to read and I usually check out 2 other sites as well. (Pocket PC Thoughts and Neowin.) *EXCLUDING* Slashdot or \. or whatever the heck it is... What are some good sites you visit with content that updates frequently and unlike MSDN doesn't require reading a 7 page preamble just to know if you are the intended audience? Put the blogs.msdn.com all blogs feed[^] in your reader and you'll have new stuff to read (or at least glance at) all day.

I have yet to build any really big program with VS 2005, so I haven't gone through very long compiles. But when you say to bring food for the build process, that makes me wonder just how big is the system you are working on! Can you mention how long it takes to build your project? Mostly tongue in cheek humor. I have one web project I've got with 160+ source files, user controls and some other stuff that can make you pause wilst it compiles mainly when you change something in app_code or a user control. - Rex

Try the Start Page Randomizer[^]... You can customize what sort of pages you get redirected to ("Computers and Internet" or "Science and Technology" might be good categories for you). Feel free to add your own favorite pages too, so that other users can see them! Oh, and you don't have to use it to randomize your home page - you can also store a bookmark to the randomizing page if you prefer. Yes, this was a shameless plug :-O

Thanks, so it would seem. I copied it from my profile setting's signature and that one's fine. I think IE and FireFox handle URLs, that don't begin with http://, differently. I omitted the http:// since I'm limited to 500 characters at CP. That's why I mentioned in another thread reading CP's signature and automatically adding it to CPhog forms.

I sometimes waste some time with StumbleUpon[^], a Firefox extension. I have to say that I have run across some very interesting sites using this tool. It seems to be growing all the time also. Sincerely, Alexander Wiseman
