Looking for simple Australian recipe

OK, well, I admit to having a small sample group, but what I have confirms what I've heard, that people in the US tend to eat out. I eat 3 meals out a day most of the time I am in Texas. I have to say, I've had no complaints about the quality of food. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
American restaurant food has to purposes one direct one indirect. The direct is that it's making someone money and that someone doesn't eat there every day. Two is that it will make you fat look at America. My wife and I hate eating out because (and Boise has some great restaurants) menu's are similar everywhere most of the food tastes mostly the same. You loose touch with your own ability to be self sufficient in a financially benefiting way. Gads, I could just keep going and going and going... I hate eating out. I do like a Quizno's now and then.

The variety at the places we go to in Texas is broad, but I mostly agree with this. When in Texas I am in holiday mode, but I would not eat out so much at home, in fact hardly ever. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Mate, you have to use real passionfruit, not the tinned stuff. X| cheers, Chris Maunder

Passionfruit here cost a lot, if you can even get them. I hope to be picking my own in a few years, THEN I'll be making pavlova. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

First you don't like beer, second you don't like TV and now I find out you don't like ANZAC biscuits. You may as well pack up and move to Toronto with that other all Aussie male, the soy latte sipping Maunder. What on earth has this country come to with you two blokes chaps? Read my post again. It's hte bloody lamingtons I don't like. Lump of cake with nothing to give it taste, as far as I can see. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

I've given up the soy latte's and instead and chugging regular flat-whites As God Intended. But I'll have to agree that anyone who doesn't like Anzac bikkies is not to be trusted. cheers, Chris Maunder

The other thing I guess is they can't make vegimite and cheese scrolls very easily, or anything that requires real chocolate.
Did you try the butter, milk and cheese while you were over there? At least in Massachussetts the butter and cheese where far too pale and the milk too watery. At the microsoft campus they have fridges full of soft drinks. At one dinner, I saw two cartons of milk, one brown and one red. Chocolate and strawberry, right ? I grab the red one. It was white water, 0% fat milk. totally gross. And while driving from Seattle to Texas, I ate at a subway. I had not heard of any of the cheeses they had on offer, so I took the one with the smallest pieces, hoping it would be somewhat tasty. No. And yes, all the cheese was pale. This was in the desert somewhere, on the way to the grand canyon. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Apologies then. I have re-read your post and I think the reason I came away thinking you didn't like Anzac biscuits is because you have a comma at the end of the phrase about Anzac biscuits and then say you don't like them. Then you mention Lamingtons which I thought was a completely different part of the conversation. Don't know as I haven't had one in years. My Grandmother (old skank that I haven't talked too in 8 years and who sold my house (family acreage that was in the family for over 100 years) to Bernie Whelan) made the best sponge cakes in the world and her older sister made the world's best lamington's. I reckon it's been more than 20 years. Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". There was a family farm ? That's a real shame. The worlds best lamingtons I might try. Once. Just to prove that they still suck. Sponge cakes are another thing entirely. Especially with jam and strawberries. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Not quite a farm, but 8 acres non the less. I would have been the 4th generation to have it passed on. But that little thing of putting my father in gaol pissed my grandmother off enough to sell it. Then tie all the money up in a complicated will to keep me from getting it.

Pretty sure she's dead now, so no chance of that.

Wrong, fresh cream or mock cream are by far the best. Strawberries I'll give you are an excellent topping.
