I am using Consolas, 11 pt at 1280, 1024 resolution. I found myself can't stand for anything beyond 100 chars per line. Another thing I found it strange is that, I normally have the monitor positioned middle front of me, and the start of lines are actually aligned at the far left of my eyes when all tool windows are hidden, I just feel strange this way, I either have to move to monitor rightward, or I leave the solution explorer window opened on the left, just to consume the spaces.
I also have started using the Consolas font, 8pt., 1024x768 on my lappy and dual 1600x1200 at home. however, i have found that using the clear type power toy is a must for this font, especially on the laptop. as for position, i have found that i must have the center of my keyboard and the center of my monitor(s) directly in line. with my dual setup at home, i didn't get them centered on my desk and found myself not using one of them at all. I have my laptop positioned slightly to the right of me, probably for that reason. But I'm also at a res of 1440x900 with the font point at 8. Ouch! I wouldnt be able to see that! And my eyesight is normal AFAIK. My length to monitor is normally 1 1/2 - 2 feet. Or maybe I just like big fonts :)**

Yes, given the code I'm working on every extra line I can fit on the screen helps.

actually, some of the creative guys at my office just got new dell flat screens that rotate 90 degrees. I'd love to get a pair of those at my desk. I think a combo of a 8pt font and vertical flat screens would be an ideal setup for writing code. Levi Rosol Blog By Levi[^]

It's always tempting to want to see lots of code on screen at once, but if your methods etc are that long that you can't see it on a normal screen....well! :doh:

I'm actually using ProFont which is a conversion from an old Mac font. I believe it's sensational. I run a single 1600x1200 at work and at home, then i can Rdesktop etc to work from home, and none of my settings get messed with. If I'm working on Classes only, i normally make the ToolBox (on the left) autohide, but the solution/class pinned (on the right). If I'm working on Forms, i'll also pinn the Toolbox.

i use whatever default in vs. only thing i change is colors for comments and strings (to gray and green accordingly). have 2 flat 17" attached to the main pc - one for the actual ide, the other one for the app, or another ide... have another 19" flat attached via some app (can't recall the name of it) which allows me seeminglessly switching over to the other pc by just moving the mouse. that one is used for database ide. :cool:

Sure thing. It's just a font. You can use it anywhere you like. I use it for my VS6.0 VS 2003 and VS 2005. Thanks Mircea, The reason I asked is because on Microsoft's site it says that it is spesificaly for registered VS2005 users. So I'm wondering :confused:if I can get it somewhere else, or will that version also work if I download and install it. Thanks, Dawie
