Here's what I hate
-
I hate it when an app ( such as office ) needs to use the web, and it does so by TAKING OVER MY BROWSER. Namely, if I've left something open, it will redirect it to whatever it wants me to do. And of course, it uses the page I looked at last, on the basis that the page I look at often is obviously the one I don't need anymore. What's worse is when you install something and it does this, without telling you, in order to take you to a web page telling you how much the full version is, or why you should buy some stocks in their company, or just how much they love you. settting the "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" to false might help a bit..... (just a bit)

I know exactly what you mean. The PBX interface is browser based so i have that open all the time. It really annoys me when an app hijacks the window. Mostly because its one of those non-scrollable windows so its no frigging use anyway. Then i have to log into the PBX again. Jon

I've yet to come across a situation where Office has just opened a browser window without asking me first. Is this what happened? If not, then it's your browser settings telling it to reuse the open window for new URLs that is causing the problem, not office. Come to think of it. I can't remember the last time that an application connected to the web without me telling it that it could. Regards, Brian Dela :-) Blog^ Co-author of The Outlook Answer Book... Yes, but it doesn't always work. :| FF is my primary browser, but the Mail Client That Shall Not Be Named refuses to acknowledge it. It provides only two options for opening links * inbuilt browser * MSIE The inbuilt browser is a bigger joke than IE is, so I selected the IE option. Even though I've unchecked the Reuse windows option in IE, links from L***s N***s open in an existing window. I have two gripes here
1. Why can't Lotus Notes open the link in the default browser, whatever the f--- that may be?:mad::mad:
2. Even though I'm telling IE not to reuse browser windows, it still does. X|Any* help will be greatly appreciated. * Apart from something like "Don't use Notes". It's not under my control, my employer uses it. :| š Cheers, Vikram.

What are you talking about? I said Lotus Notes has no option for opening links in the default browser - be it IE, FF, Opera or Lynx. It doesn't give you two hoots about what your default browser might be. There are only two options - the inbuilt browser, or IE. Idiots. I was asking why it can't open the link in whatever browser is the default. I can't understand your response. š Cheers, Vikram.

You can actually get it to open web pages without freezing the entire computer? I end up having to kill it when I accidentally click on a link. Of coarse once it dies, the only way to restart it is to reboot the computer. Which isn't an option for me. I just copy paste the URL now. It’s the only way. :sigh: Their web mail isn’t quite as bad. X|
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Have you tried ZapNotes? Although, on that page, they say
ZapNotes 3.4 - Now people from around the world look forward to their Notes client crashing! :)
Idiots. :|S Douglas wrote:

How do you do it? I've tried for hours, but I've been unable to find a way to copy a link from Lotus Notes. I mean, if the link is like http://www.google.com I can copy it, but if it's like Google I can't. I'm using Notes 6.5. I'd appreciate it if you have a way to copy the URL from such links. :) š Cheers, Vikram.

Yeah, i really hate that too. If only there was a way of telling the browser to always open links from external apps in, say, a new tab or something... Oh. Wait. There is. Sweet... ;)

No one at work is bright enough to embed URLs like that. I’m at home now so I can’t really test it but here are two options. 1: Select the text URL and right click on it, there is a nonsensical option to treat that as a URL or something similarly seemingly pointless. 2: In one of the 50 or 60 preference dialogs there is an option to change the embedded URL behavior. I just can’t for the life of me think of the option or name (sorry I am very very tired at this point). Did you see my other reply about changing the default browser for useless notes?
