I've got a HP dx5150 SFF AMDx64 XPSP2 machine with an MS wireless mouse installed, and the mouse does this wierd thing every so often, where it just freezes, then a few seconds later comes back to life. The mouse batteries are good, wireless signal strength is good :mad::mad: Anyone else come across something like this? Phil Harding.

Its the wirless driver and the kernel and probably some other driver occasionally having a time sharing/priority problem. As in a particularly heavy usage at dispatch level for example. Nunc est bibendum

It's the CIA spying on the radio signal from your mouse. Build a tinfoil shield over and around your PC area. Make sure it's completely sealed and earthed before you boot up. You may want to deploy another wireless mouse just outside the shield and pay a local kid a small amount of money to move it around occasionally in case the CIA get suspicious at the sudden loss of signal.

If it's USB and you are also running a USB printer or other USB devices that's worth looking into. One thing I pretty much always do on a new machine is go into the Device Manager and delete the USB Root hubs and restart with no devices connected. Let the OS reinstall the root hubs then install your stuff. Works wonders for me.

I used to get this all the time with my wireless mouse. The 'dead' times corresponded with a faint buzzing in the speakers so I was led to assume that some radio interference (a dodgy microwave perhaps) was preventing my mouse from communicating. I could not track down the RF noise to I switched to a nice wired optical mouse. :)
