I changed my monitor resolution from 1024x768 to 1152x864. Now most of the desktop icons and almost everything blured ! Had anyone faced similar issue ? Tried this in google but no luck. Monitor is CRT. BTW how to find the native resolution, will that help in any way ?
Ah, shouldn't be an issue then, unless its gone into an interlaced mode. Ryan

Do you have an LCD monitor? If so, 1024x768 is probably its native resolution. LCD screens do not do very well outside their native resolution or a resolution that it can be evenly divided by.

Monitor is CRT. BTW I changed the resolution back to 1024x768 still the issue is there. Looks like some dlls got curropted in between. However i tried reinstalling the intel graphic driver, but no luck :(

You've probably changed your DPI setting from 96 to 120dpi, or even used a custom setting. Windows scales your icons from their original 32x32 (or whatever) to 40x40 using a pretty poor algorithm, and the result looks awful. I detest 120dpi and always use 96dpi. If things look too small, go back to 1024x768 or get a bigger monitor. Windows XP has two places to set large fonts, one on the Appearance tab which only changes the font sizes, not the DPI, and the other in the same place as Windows 2000, on the General tab of the Advanced Properties dialog, which is the DPI setting. Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

What about monitor frequency? Sometimes I see blurry if monitor is running at 60 Hz and I bump it up to 75-80 Hz and then everything looks fine - I don't have your same video chip, but I have done that with Matrox, ATI, and nVidia. I've seen better runs in my shorts! - Patches O'Houlihan

Sometimes when resetting screen resolution the screen refresh rate is also reset. Check your monitor refresh rate. Pump it up to the highest rate allowed by your monitor for 1152x864. I'm currently running 1152x864 @ 100 Hz on my desktop crt. At 60 Hz my eyes hurt and the screen is fuzzy. -Sean ---- Shag a Lizard
