It was an interview of Congressman Lynn Westmoreland by Stephen Colbert about a bill that he co-sponsored. When asked what the Ten Commandments were, he could not name them all.

Thanks, I'm sure it was funny. I'll catch it tonight. My mom told me once that "while we all don't speak the same language, everyone in the world undestands an asskicking"

I did some googling, but couldn't locate a transcript. If it helps, here are some other links to it: - WMP[^] - QuickTime[^] - Comedy Central[^] (Click on "Better Know a District" -- The commandment's part is towards the end.) Alvaro

The conversation went approximately like this: Congressman Westmoreland: there's no better place than to put the 10 commandments than in a public building. I cannot think of a better place to put them. Stephen Colbert: You cannot think of a better place to put them than in a public building? Congressman: No. And if we don't, we might well lose our way. Colbert: What are the 10 commandments? Congressman: You want me to name them all? colbert: yes. Congressman: Don't murder.... don't lie.... don't steal.... That's all I can think of/remember. colbert: thank you very much congressman for taking time out of your busy schedule for an interview.

I don't care much for that Daily Show guy at all, but Colbert is pretty hilarious.

That last line by Colbert should be: "...thank you for keeping the sabbath day holy to talk to me."

How much of Mein Kampf have you memorized? I suspect it's about the same.

Is that such a big deal? I can't name them all either.

Okay - I've managed to get the video to download. And I think it must be because he can't remember them.

A congressman advocating the placement of them in a public building should know them. It just shows that he doesn't really know what he's voting on. BW
