I didn't see it. I can't get into soccer. It seems that the players must have a degree in theatrical performance to be allowed to play. It's just pathetic to watch the acting that goes on. IMO, it destroys the game's credibility.

They should change the rules a bit. Having a video camera that records the game, or using the footage from televisions camera to replay suspicious or hard to judge events I think would be a good idea. USA is giving the Azzurri a run for their money !! Match is tied 1 - 1 at half time. Good that the so-called Pundits who predicted a big Italy win were proved wrong .... With a bit of luck can USA win the match ???!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, may the team that played the best *today* win!

While the USA was busy getting its independence, Scotland had just lost hers. It breaks the tension a bit. I'd rather be in 59th place with a small taste of independence than assimilated into a British team.

Everybody who is into soccer is pissed off by it, too. I guess what gets you into soccer is playing it as a kid. All you need is a ball and at least one friend. No installment, just a yard, and some rubbish to mark the goal (and quick feet in case you hit a window :rolleyes: )

Except the players :sigh: I'd really like to see a rule brought in such that anyone who claims an "injury" should be sent off the ground for medical treatment for at least 2 minutes. See how many of them keep acting after that :)

:laugh: exactly what I had in mind. It's the one really ugly thing, because it's so hard to judge, and is per definition in a critical moment of the game. (The first two games were really a pain...) I already suggested to make it a bit simpler: Three times in the game, the goal keeper may punch the person next to him as hard as he likes. Will mkae them think twice about hanging out to close :cool: When you play for plays sake, the offside rule is simple: "You can't stand there all the time!" Ah those were the days...

There was a report in the media here in Australia quoting the U.S. coach, Bruce Arena, as saying that Australia were only there to make up the numbers. It is quite simple. The England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own football associations and leagues, not to mention over a hundred years of history. The first ever international football match was between England and Scotland. We have been fierce rivals ever since.

That might have been true in the past, but currently I can't think of a single player from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland that would be considered good enough to replace a member of the current England squad. Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.
