I decided I was going to install Visa on my PC last night, only problem was not enough free space on my primary partition. So, being the diligent IT worker that I am, I hooked up a hard drive from one of my other PC's, formatted it and moved all my precious My Documents files onto it. I didn't want to be to poor sucker who lost everything because I resized a partition with all my files on it. Not me, no way! After about 45 minutes of copying (lots of music and photos), the job was done. Into computer management I go and delete the old partition, thinking, for some reason, that windows would allow me to expand the primary partition into the unallocated space. Not so. Then I fired up Partition Magic to do the resizing, but it had some disturbing news to report. The new drive I added, now with all my files, was reporting a partion type of Bad. I opened the new drive in explorer, no problems there, I could still see all my files. But, just to be safe, I recreated the partition I had just deleted so I could copy everything back and start again. It didn't work. The partition I recreated, was as I expected, empty. My new drive, with all my stuff, was now inaccessible. So, can anyone recommend some good disk recovery software? Cheers, Anthony.

Another one for File Scavenger. It takes its time, but it recovered pretty much everything

Thanks guys, I went the file scavenger option, and although it did take an hour or so to scan the lost partition, it managed to recover everything. :) Today's job, everything is being backed up to dvd...
