America's* Literacy rate (link[^]): 99% Spain's literacy rate (link[^]): 97.9% so Spain is about twice as illiterate as the United States. Not only that, but they elected communists in order to appease Al Qaeda. What a bunch of wussies. *Note that this figure has been adjusted to only include the United States. Venezuela was not counted. -- modified at 9:10 Thursday 22nd June, 2006

Not only that, but chauvinists too - the female literacy rate 97.2% :) Ryan

Spanish men also don't know how to please a woman. The average woman in the US has 2.09 children and in Spain they only have 1.28. Perhaps that chauvinism is masking something deeper.

And our's would probably be even higher if we didn't have so many minorities trapped in inner city schools being kept purposefully uneducated so that they can be more easily controlled to serve as political chattel for their Marxist masters. "You get that which you tolerate"

But Spain is in Europe, so if more Spaniards could actually read, it would increase Europe's literacy rate.
