The WorldCup is fine but...

... is anyone following Formula1? The show is coming over to the states a week from now. What a phenomenal season, especially for the spaniard. An all-time record, I think, with 5 victories and 3 seconds in 8 races. How about motoGP? Anyone out there saw the crash last weekend? Motor fans, let it rip!!

Just watched the practice today (was bored, nothing else on.) I just hope the race is more exciting that the last one which was a borefest. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

Past the first few laps, it did seem like it was all over. Save for a crash or an engine failure. In all truth, I don't see how that is going to change until aero packs are prohibited or seriously reduced. Then those guys will show their brutal skill. For the time being, I'm just glad to witness the rise of a new champ... and some other serious contenders to come.

bah. i can't stand the fellow meself. i find it surprising how many renault "fans" suddenly appeared last season whereas the ferrari fans just dwindled. leads me to believe that half (or more) of all renault fans were once ferrari fans while ferrari was winning but jumped ship when the sh!t hit the fan. poseurs. sickening. gets me mad. i've been a mclaren fan since i got into f1 about 4 years ago. they've had some crap races, crap seasons and a fair amount of crap luck but i've stood by them and supported them. there is no denying that kimi is a fantastic driver, it's the engineering that's let him down. a pity that he may be moving to ferrari but i wish him all the best. there. rant over. i feel better now. :) erm...what?

How so? Must be something personal. As a driver, and considering he is a relative newcomer, he's become the best of the field. His second world championship almost his already and not even mid-season!!

It always happens. Besides, think about the millions renault owners. And french pride to add to it all.

I'm a mclaren fan myself and don't think it is just "bad luck". Montoya and kimi have made mistakes. Some of the blowups and crashes are their fault. Just think about the last monaco gp with kimi overheating the car for no reason.

He is good, very good, but is not quite all there. A move to ferrari would be cool because of the fight with schumi but I suspect that he may end up in renault.

Just the last one? All racing has degraded into spec racing. All of the cars are the same, and all of the drivers are the same, no passing is allowed, only "approved" parts can be used,, and there are no gray areas in the rules. It used to be exciting to watch almost any kind of racing you could name, and now it's all been homoginized and watered down so that nobody is offended by advertising, drivers can't speak their minds for fear of being dumped, and big conglomerate teams with deep pockets are chasing out the little guys. And no, it doesn't matter if you're talking about Formula 1 or Nascar. Modern racing in all its forms sucks. It sucks so bad, that we now have "drifting" which isn't racing at all, but instead is a freakin "style" event like figure skating or gymnastics. What a crock. I bet racing greats like Denny Hulme, Dale Earnhardt and Ayrton Senna are spinning in their freakin' graves over that.
