Gary's intention was not done in the spirit of forcing his belief on others; no one's really contending that, especially those that know Gary. Even John conceded that point earlier.

Like I said to John, I understand the idea behind that, where you guys are coming from. Everyone getting along and noone getting offended; it's a nice idea after all. I *could* stifle myself and remain quiet, but what does that accomplish? And to what end? People will still be offended by other things--surely! It is an unattainable, utopian goal to not-offend the whole world. People are offended by the slightest things; I'd rather speak freely what's inside of me rather that stifle myself in order to not-offend a few. And yes, this has digressed into soapbox material, but that was due to the replies of an honest answer, something I applaud Gary for. He could've lied in order to not-offend a few, but he didn't. Good for him. :cool:

Just my breathing offends some people to the point where they complain *about* me but not *to* me. But I'm not too thin skinned about it, I pity them for their inability to "just get along" in this diverse world we live in. Mike Poz

Mike, I totally agree on that point, I as well wish people could "just get along". I wish people weren't so easily offended, especially at such things as saying, "This weekend I discovered that God loves me." :)

Oh I see. Yes. Well, probably that is true also. My case study was this bit of code:
void ReadData(byte[] data, int dataLen)...In which, in all cases, dataLen == data.Length. And while potentially ok if dataLen < data.Length, there was of course no check if dataLen > data.Length (or zero). Now, I can understand that the background of these programmers is C/C++/Delphi (I have no idea how Delphi handle arrays), so I can see that, yeah, in those languages you'd have to pass in the # of bytes to read, because data would be nothing more than a pointer. That is how I got my name. Doing rope work and drinking copious amounts of rum! :) I find rope work is also a good way to relax when stressed from work. :) I lived on a boat and would make up lines for my neighbor's boats. Good relaxation and they supplied the rope and the rum. :cool: I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopes

Brakes I don't care how much damage is done on mine since I picked it up for next to nothing -£80. Bit of rust but nothing substatial, it's my "project" to get it roadworthy, much more fun driving it round the fields though.
Formula 1 - Short for "F1 Racing" - named after the standard "help" key in Windows, it's a sport where participants desperately search through software help files trying to find actual documentation.
