Yeah, I was saying last Friday I need to change my login in name to something feminine. Someone suggested Bubba, but hey! I'm north of the Mason-Dixon line. But now it sucks to know you're all the way in NYC. I was going to send you a cake or something for your help.
Instead of a cake, I'd much rather you send me a photo of yourself. I'm always curious what the people I chat with actually look like. That would be great. If you feel comfortable doing it, send the pic to flapplejacks@gmail.com Looking forward to it Lex! Josh

Hey there Super Lloyd. Now that your previous message has accumulated 2 votes of 5, I should mention that if you expect CP to keep your moniker intact, you might want to consider demonstrating your "super" powers. Perhaps asking "Which one would you advise" would be more "super" than "Which one would you advice to me?" :-D
After re-reading my own post I thought of it but procrastinated. It's now corrected, just for you ;)

Yeah, I know that. But thanks for pointing it out anyways. I feel like I'm in "The Lounge" of a soccer site. I don't understand why all these soccer rants are being posted here, on a software dev site, that's all. :) Adios amigo, josh

Turn on your TV - you might notice this little thing called the World Cup going on at the moment. Don't worrry though, it will be over in a couple of weeks and we can get back on-topic and talk about how rubbish Bush is, how not all muslims are terrists, and how oil is the real reason for the war. FWIW I hate football and wish there weren't so many fotty posts here too! Current blacklist svmilky - Extremely rude | FeRtoll - Rude personal emails | ironstrike1 - Rude & Obnoxious behaviour

Being the American which I inevitably am, I cannot understand for one second what on Earth is so damn appealing about soccer. Why do some many people keep posting soccer rants on a web site dedicated to software?! Aren't there soccer (football, whatever) sites to which you can post these rants? Let's get back to business here, people. Software. Software. Software. Josh
Have you ever played it?

I know the World Cup is underway. I just don't see why folks keep posting about it at CP.

Yummy. X| The Lounge page should have a filter which optionally removes any posts with words like "football", "soccer", "cricket", etc. That way, the people who don't come to CodeProject to chat about sports won't have to wade their way through those posts.

I've seen lots of posts about football recently. What is this soccer of which you speak?

The lounge isn't for software only, but to talk about anything else. A polar bear is a bear whose coordinates has been changed in terms of sine and cosine.

This is the lounge. And considering the way Australia lost the match, it deserves more rant post. :)
Yeh, that was really unfair. It was an amazing surprise how Australians played, they diserved to win the game. A polar bear is a bear whose coordinates has been changed in terms of sine and cosine.

I know that. But thanks for taking the time to point it out. I don't come to CodeProject for life's other stuff. Why post about soccer (or baseball, or bicycling) over and over and over on a site that has nothing to do with it. That's all I'm saying. I think it's great that people are really into soccer and think it's the best. I just don't understand why people slam the CP boards with rants about soccer. josh
There are forums for talking about software inside CP, and there is one fourm -the lounge- for talking about anything else, like soccer. A polar bear is a bear whose coordinates has been changed in terms of sine and cosine.

I actually do :P It was as watching the F1 car races a few years ago, when Schumacher ruled. The interesting thing about Tour de France, as well as the F1 races, was knowing who won the sencod place, since Armstrong (and Shumacher) always wins the 1st. Now this time will be different... A polar bear is a bear whose coordinates has been changed in terms of sine and cosine.

I'm wondering about buying some soccer video game. Which one would you advise to me? ;P
I bought FIFA Soccer 04, and it was fantastic: my team -Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz- appeared as well as the hole teams of mexican premiere league :P Furthermore, it is an amazing game, the narrators, the players, etc. A polar bear is a bear whose coordinates has been changed in terms of sine and cosine.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I consider biking like that a SPORT. I just find it a bit boring to watch. Unlike NASCAR. I don't believe making a bunch of left-hand turns is a sport. Otherwise if I planned it right I would be sporting my way to the grocery store. I actually like to watch soccer and have watched a few matches.

As a rabid NASCAR fan, it is debatable whether it is a "Sport" but then again, so is bowling. But, it is a contest/game and the TV ratings outdraw all sports in the USA except the NFL (American Footbal). And, how man other events draw 250,000 fans, like this coming weekend in Daytona? Now, at that track, there are usually 20-40 passes PER LAP. But, it's all a matter of taste like other sports and events that some people consider boring, if you can't get into the subtleties, it will be boring. But, the most obvious thing that makes auto racing exciting is that even during the boring parts, you never know when the next wreck will occur. Also, the most recent NASCAR race was at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. This is a road course. They go around the circuit F1 style (i.e. clockwise) and make mostly right turns but make left ones as well. And, I have tickets to the other NASCAR Nextel Cup road course race in Watkins Glen, NY. But, hey, it's OK to me if you don't like NASCAR. Without such a diverse taste in sports/contests, what would ESPN show? (Does anyone think Texas Hold'em Poker is a sport?) Andrew C. Eisenberg Nashville, TN, USA (a.k.a. Music City USA) (Yes Virginia, there are rock and roll stations in Nashville!)

First things first. When we invented the game we called it football. It's called football in most countries of the world. It is really irritating when thick Yanks that know nothing about the game call it soccer. It's also really irritating when they don't know the name of the countries that border their own and bomb countries because they have oil but this is a discussion about football. Secondly, I have seen a broad range of topics discussed here on matters other than software. Why suddenly pick on football for being off topic. Is that because you know nothing about it? Just because the mighty USA are not interested, the majority of the other 99% of us are. Maybe you could bomb all the countries that are interested in football. Aren't there Yank(American, whatever) sites to which you can post these rants.
