I had the strangest experience this morning. A woman contacted me via MSN, calling me 'sweetie' and saying she'll fly to Hobart to see me again, and that she's been looking for me for 11 years. She sent a photo, I have no idea who she is or how she knows me. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ Metal Musings - Rex and my new metal blog

Are you sure it wasn't a ploy to send you a virus? Just this morning at my work, there was a virus getting around via a GIF file through Yahoo IM. Afterwards it started spreading itself via e-mail and Yahoo IM under that person's ID.

Are you sure that's what she looked like when you knew her? Some people make pretty dramatic changes through the years...

Beware of things like this. Does she know what kind of car you drive?

Well, she plainly knew me at some point, she knew personal details about my past. I can't imagine someone sitting on MSN spreading a virus by hand, with that much work going into it. She sent me a jpg anyhow. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ Metal Musings - Rex and my new metal blog

The thing is, people trying to find someone for sex will obviously want to meet in private. In fact, I have no intention of meeting this lady unless my wife is present, and we're in a public place like a cafe. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ Metal Musings - Rex and my new metal blog

I've had a similar experience, but with pictures. :) I almost wished I had gone and done something.

Well, she plainly knew me at some point, she knew personal details about my past. I can't imagine someone sitting on MSN spreading a virus by hand, with that much work going into it. She sent me a jpg anyhow. Wow, sounds like she's gone to a lot of effort too to track down your MSN address. Perhaps it's time to restore your old repressed memory backups ;)
