Differences between falling from 20 stories than 2 stories

Falling from 20 stories: "Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah~~~~~~! Boom!" Falling from 2 stories: "Boom! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah~~~~~~!!" ... just a joke.
A cat is more likely to survive falling out of a window from 5 stories than from 2 stories. But can anyone tell me why? (And yes I do know the answer) "Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage" -- Jean Anouilh
