After a few pints, I went to see Superman Returns on a whim last night. What a stupid movie! Sure their are some good effects and all, but that's all worthless if the story sucks, and it does. So, ye been warned, go watch pirates this weekend instead, savvie. BW

For every one who like superman? Sure! For Hollywood? Nah, there must be a human side, tears, a love story and a happy end. Regards, Ingo ------------------------------ PROST Roleplaying Game War doesn't determine who's right. War determines who's left.

I have to say I did not like Bosworth as Lois. She just wasn't believable. I figured out the kid part right away. My husband is a huge comic book fan (more Marvel that DC) but he really liked it. I thought it was about 45 minutes too long. The "human side" scenes were really drawn out. BTW, did anyone think that when he played Clark Kent he eerily looked like C. Reeve?

I've heard the new guy was selected partially because of his similarlity to Reeve. I agree, Lois was pretty lame, though thankfully decent to look at. The kid wasn't tough to figure out either. I was hoping after the piano thing we'd see some more of him, but nada. The whole save-the-world climax was terrible, I thought. Granted it's a fairy tale, but it made no sense. Suddenly, kryponite doesn't phase him?? What the??? It was definitely too long; at one point I sighed out loud and begged the screen to just end already. BW

You must really compare it to the previous superman movies to determine if it is good or not. And doing that yields a movie that is far better than the old ones. I will say, however, batman returns was definately a better remake of a series but still a Superman movie with a budget actually did a lot and I think the muggles (non-tech or non-comic book dweebs) will probably like it alot. The Reeve movies also sucked, but I don't think you need to compare a movie to any other to determine whether it is good or not. It should hold up on it's own. I've talked with a few non-tech people and they didn't like it either, I just think they dropped the ball. They should have spent some of that money on a good script, or at least make me forget the story by bombarding me with cool action scenes. BW

X3 didn't drag on but they did intentionally kill all of the main characters so they could sell a trilogy box set. Toss up. "Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage" -- Jean Anouilh

"Superman Returns" is up there as perhaps the worst superhero movie I've ever seen. - Absolutely everyone is miscast, with the possible exception of Jimmy Olsen. - 98% of the humor in the previous movies is gone. - It needed to be edited down to 90 minutes or so. Superman doesn't even show up for the first 40 minutes. I think we understand the origin story by this point. Krypton is gone. We get it. - At least 10 minutes of the movie is devoted to the wreck of a giant train set. Don't ask. - By all rights, Lois should have saved the planet instead of Superman since she is more indestructible. During the course of the movie, she gets tossed around inside a plane like a pinball without a scratch, her leg gets broken by a bad guy then spontaneously regenerated, and then she's hit on the head by a giant steel door with full force and only knocked out briefly (again, no blood). - The much-touted "human side" of the script seems to be nothing but a recycling of tired lines & props from the first movie. - Finally, Superman has learned the accumulated knowledge of 20 galaxies but somehow missed the part in superhero school where you don't try to save a falling plane by holding onto its wingtip. Gosh this movie is dumb. Go away Brian Singer.

X3 didn't drag on but they did intentionally kill all of the main characters so they could sell a trilogy box set. Toss up. "Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage" -- Jean Anouilh

Dang! Now I know how it ends  My wife and I went to set this movie (X3) and we missed the last 15 mintues because the power at the entire mall complex (about 4 city blocks) lost power. When we returned we went to see Nacho Libre instead, because we did not want to sit through the first 80 minutes of X3 again. I've seen better runs in my shorts! - Patches O'Houlihan
