Do you afraid of flight?
-
Well, either you grab your fear by the horns, or stay out of flying vehicles. It's your choice. ;P

I do not. Well, except for one thing, when the plane go through some "perturbation", I should confess that tend to unsettle me...

My choice is that I want to overcome this fear. What is in your mind when the plane is shaking??

You should watch "plane crash investigation". All these images of falling planes... It's in fact quite reassuring when you watch the thorough investigation each failure is given and the thorough measures applied afterward, whenever necessary...
-
No worries. Sometimes when the turbulence gets very bad I get a little nervous. Then I usually remind myself that getting more nervous doesn't change the weather and that makes it all OK. I'm completely out of control of the situation and signed over my fate to the pilot when I stepped on board, so it's a little late to worry when you're on the plane. ;) BW

Only when landing in St. Louis. Two touch-and-go's there are quite enough, thank you.

-- Steven WrightI fully understand that I can do nothing when I "entered the gate", but then when the plane shakes, I can't stop myself from thinking about all the wonderful things I can do on ground, such as walking in a park, playing with my dog, working on a computer without worrying about battery issue, etc. Afterall, I don't feel safe on plane. Anyone had this experience and finally overcame this???

First thought is the engines are still running. That is good. "Yes I know the voices are not real. But they have some pretty good ideas."

You need a better reference.... stand at ground zero for a rogue missile returning (or even not sure if you are because you didn't pay attention to which camera is which on the video monitor), or have a near fatal event elsewhere. You realize that your life is put on the line every day, you just don't realize it. Flying is as safe as any other mode of travel, probably a lot safer than just showing up for work for me.... :~ Worrying serves no practical purpose. Recognition does. Recognizing threats and taking precautions is a whole other issue. You are in control of your own vehicle, so you maintain it, give yourself through your own power a better chance to come out alive, but you are powerless in respect to other vehicles on the road. If you wanted to be absolutely safe, there is nothing you can do. Even walking around your own house is a risk. You don't worry about these risks because somethings are out of your control, you trust in the odds, do your best when the choice is in your hands, and go on with life. Flying is no different. There is very little you can do about the chance of flight problems, but the worst case chance is slimmer than walking in any town in New Mexico and being hit, or hopping in your car in any state in the USA and being in a major crash. Being afraid of flight is just wasted energy.... now Coulrophobia, that makes much more sense... :omg: _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
