"A pirate is one who robs or plunders at sea without a commission from a recognised sovereign nation. Pirates usually target other ships, but have also attacked targets on shore. These acts are known as piracy" I expect software industries and other copyrights owners to use the word "genocide" in a near future...

It's the new Piracy v2.0 definition the industry uses. Any attempt to redefine the word piracy, is a direct violation of DMCA. Perpetrators will be hunted down as members of the marxist conspiracy. Should you reply, I will continue yapping about something entirely beside the point!

Chinese Software Piracy Hurting Domestic Market[^] This makes me wonder how they ever get anything written if it just gets pirated right away - sell the first copy for $1 million and let the pirates do the distribution?

Biggest problem china has with software privacy is things leaking out... recently at one company some code got leaked... word got around that code reached the competition... but that was not the problem problem was that lot of leaked code was already stolen from somewhere else... so the competitor made this info public by attributing to 'reliable sources'... happy b'day for the guy who stole for the competitor... -- modified at 15:44 Wednesday 5th July, 2006

It's an AP article - their words not mine. And it is a fairly well accepted use of the word - is this a French / English problem? We have them all the time here in Canada.

No no, french musical industry makes the same abuse of the word.

That kind of "insurance" is illegal, and will most likely result in fines for the "insurance company", or maybe even prison.

I didn't use any smileys or anything to indicate that I wasn't being rational. Or as fat_boy would've said "I was taking the piss". But I was fairly sure that no smiley was needed. Maybe I was wrong. :)

During the Independence War, didn't the insurgents also attack English merchant ships? :~
