I just shot myself in the hand with a "toy" gun. This fucking thing works on air compression and shoots really small plastic balls. Why the fuck whould anyone sell such dangerous "toys" to little children? "toy" my ass! This thing is lean-mean-hurtin'-machine! Ouch. Isaac Sasson, Small time programmer - complainer at large. Quit whining ya pussy ;P Seriously, i've been shot in the hand w/ paintballs before & yeah, it fuckin' hurts. not too much padding there :( Isaac Sasson wrote: Why the f*** whould anyone sell such dangerous "toys" to little children? Amazing how parents differ on what they'll let their children have/do. On the one hand, there are overprotective parents who send their children out skating encased in armour head to foot. On the other hand, there are children out in the woods w/ shotguns, and driving i regularly pass some six year old driving a tractor twice the size of my car._**

Sometimes i only remember, The days when i was young
Nowadays no one remembers when they were young and stupid...

Isaac Sasson wrote: Why the f*** whould anyone sell such dangerous "toys" to little children? They don't. Legally they are clasified as toys (they eject BB's at less than 1 joule of enery), but the only place that will sell them to under 18's (17 in much of Europe) is the same place you or I could buy a handgun without a license. Airsoft weapons are unlicensed as they are, but with a minor modification to the internals can be classified under UK law as a class 5 firearm. I'm sorry, but if you are honestly stupid enough to igore the safety instructions and shoot anything with an airsoft gun at point blank range, then that is your own fault. Would you point a loaded crossbow at yourself? Maybe you would like to re-read my "humans are stupid" thread in the lounge again, 'cause it certainly applies here. Come to think of it, sod the safety instructions - if you are stupid enough to point any gun at anything - loaded or not - without expecting it to go off then you should be banned from using weapons for life. Even the most crudely run of paintballing/airsoft sites will tell you this. Commonsense will tell you this. Maybe I am on my high-horse when it comes to gun safety, but considering the tragic incident with a shotgun I witnessed as a young child, I think I have a right to be pissed off at people who are so obviously careless with their own lives. Don't f*ck with anything that fires projectiles again - next time you may not get away with just bruising. Stop being an idiot and take care of your life; you only get one shot at it. I agree with this, I won't even let kids point a "toy" gun at me or another human. My kids are learning how to use guns safely and how to respect them. Even if you know the chamber is empty, you treat the gun as live, its just another precaution, that forms a good habit to make. Identifying targets is a whole new discussion . :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Bravo! Great Rant! I am a gun nut, by the liberals' definition. I own a few, I shoot them regularly. I don't claim they're for hunting - they are for killing people intent on harming me, and protecting my rights against an intrusive government. And I am a gun safety fanatic. There is no excuse for anyone stupid enough to point a loaded weapon at any target he doesn't intend to seriously harm. Even a 'toy' that has the potential to do harm must always be treated with the utmost respect, and those who ignore that basic rule do not have any business owning them.

I got my first real gun when I was nine, long before I outgrew toy guns and backyard warfare. All the kids in the neighborhood got them that year. But we, along with our fathers, were required (not by a law, by our fathers) to go to Hunter Safety Class before we were allowed to shoot them. On that great day when we all passed, our fathers took us out into the desert and handed us our first boxes of .22 bullets. It was a solemn ritual, and it impressed all of us with the grave reponsibilty we now had as 'shooters.'

Yeah, but kidz can quite easily run around pointing a stick, pretending it to be a gun. Some of the "toys" are more like replicas.
