I'm not looking for answers just marking the event really. My grandfather was found dead tonight in his bathroom on the floor. Yeah, that's about how I felt to when I heard. This isn't the first death I've had to face the first was my best friend in 1996. There have been a few others after that. I'm amazed at what it does to your mind. It rips you out of your world and suddenly immerses you into the past. Memories rush in but you really try to maintain a grip on the present but really you can't at all the present just is and the memories are pouring out like a river. Even if you sat in the memories they just rush past you and you are left as you were. Alone to think about the passing of another persons life and what that meant to you. Anyway, it's going to be a very late night a somber night... This life is just a trip and at times it's the most euphoric trip you can get and at others you are left looking around wondering a lot of things... Well... What can I say...:^) Gramps I love you may you go in peace and in God Speed find your rest.:rose:

Irrational though it may sound, you might find yourself hoping you will walk walk arounda corner to find him there and it was all a big mistake. It takes time to truly accept someone has gone. RIP  Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

(((( Hugs  )))) I'm so sorry to hear of your loss hun. I can totally understand your pain...even now I still miss my grandparents terribly. :(( All I can suggest is not to grieve his loss, but rather to celebrate the man he was. Why not raise a glass to him on the journey he is now making? If you think of it that way, it may not be so painful. :rose: Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. That's a shame. I lost my grandfather to cancer, and had to watch him slowly deteriorate. I'd have preferred that it was sudden, but I don't call the shots. You'll pull through, buddy. You are the Code-Frog!! :rose: :josh: My WPF Blog[^]

Im really sorry to hear your news mate. Other than that I cant really think of anything to say to you. When my Father died I spent a lot of energy looking after my Mum and neglected my own feelings and my own need to grieve which made things a lot harder in the long run. I can totally understand your pain...even now I still miss my grandparents terribly. :(( All I can suggest is not to grieve his loss, but rather to celebrate the man he was. Why not raise a glass to him on the journey he is now making? Yeah, he was 90 years old and I don't grieve his loss. I read a line in a book once my Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. I was a teen-ager when I read it. "We don't mourn the loss of those who die fulfilling their destiny." I say goodbye to soldiers but they died how they lived and that's honorably (I hope, use to be you could say that with more conviction.). My grandfather fulfilled his destiny in many ways. He was part of the research team that designed, developed and implemented the interfaces for nuclear-powered propulsion systems in the U.S. Navy's subs. The boomer class submarine might as well have his name on it. He was a brilliant and mysterious man in many ways. To the day he died he was bound by oaths of secrecy to the U.S. Government as both he and my grandmother (died almost a year ago exactly) were part of early White Sands stuff and heavily involved with Nasa first space missions. He was a tremendous man with many accomplishments so it's easy to celebrate how he lived. I think it's just the passing of a life from yours that is so bizarre. If life were fabric and each thread quilted a small piece of life then the death of someone rips a whole from your fabric of life. It's hard to patch that whole but you slowly fill it in with new memories of new loved ones and over time your fabric of life is restored. I think that's what gets me the most. The emptiness from the hole. It's a strange sort of disconnected feeling that can take a while to come to terms with. - Rex :rose:

My grandfather was 90 so it's easier to deal with. He lived a long and rich life and I believe he was satisfied with how he lived it. The death that rocked my world was losing a very close friend in a rock climbing accident. He fell, and fell, and fell and fell and that was how he died. That was very hard to come to terms with. Both of us so young. I mourned for his parents as he was their only natural child leaving them with an adopted sister (which is totally fine but still their only son is gone). Yesterday evening my friend's dad expired. I was really unable to convince him by anywords. Loosing the loved ones would be the most painful moment even more painful than dying itself.:( . :rose:I just looked into your thread, sorry for the late response Rex.
