Smitha wanted to see it - thanks to you, we won't be doing that - whew! I had to force her to see Superman Returns and she complained that it was way too long - which it was by the way :-) Regards, Nish

We walked out after 2 1/2 hours. Yes, it's THAT long, and it's THAT bad that the only reason I didn't leave sooner was that I could see it resolving in the next 15 minutes after an hour, so I just kept expecting it to end. Kiera Knightly was the only good thing about the whole movie. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ Metal Musings - Rex and my new metal blog

I liked it. Everybody told me it was very bad and I went in there expecting nothing. Although the story was weak, what do you expect from a pirate movie that began with all pirates being brought to justice save one. The story was eerily similar to Treasure Island. Could have been worse by using Fantasy Island. Zee plane, zee plane.

The first one is well worth the rental. I haven't heard one positive review from reviewers for the media. I expect than in a few months it will be on HBO five times a day so I'll wait.

And you liked Superman Returns? Now there was a horrible movie with no story whatsoever. I was hoping from the trailer they'd have a way of explaining how Superman and Clark Kent both come back simultaneously after a 5 year absence. How did they explain it? They didn't. Nobody seems to care. Ugh!!! :)

The first one is unique. It's like the Matrix. You have to watch 2 and 3 cause they're the Matrix. Well POTC is like that. I've seen 1 a dozen times and my DVD is slowly being worn out.

I've heard that it doesn't have an ending. It just stops because it continues in part 3 which was filmed at the same time.

Couldn't have said it better. Consequently, I've been looking forward to the second installation more than any movie since The Empire Strikes Back after the original Star Wars. Because it's a sequel, my expectations weren't high. I enjoyed it, but the writing isn't as good as the first time around. The priority was obviously action sequences, as it's just one non stop blur from beginning to end. None of the quotable one liners or comedic timing of the first one. (Will: "You cheated." Jack, rolling his eyes: "Pirate.") One thing I do find encouraging, though, is that they're making fun movies again. It may be over long, and the writing may have suffered, but it is exactly what it's intended to be - a light hearted romp from beginning to end. The trend towards dark, dismal and fatalistic world views was beginning to be a bit of a downer. Since they were filming the third one at the same time as the second, I don't expect it to be any better, but I'll go see it anyway. At least it's not depressing!
