Who knows how I would go about getting a travel job in programming (or IT) that would allow me to traverse the globe constantly, not staying anywhere longer than a few months at a time and making decent money? Personally, I think that would be awesome. Hints, tips, contacts? (or low votes?) A man said to the universe: "Sir I exist!" They didn't teach that sort of stuff at military school. Plus I don't think terrorism pays well or has a good long term health plan. You may want to consider software engineering openings at a global consulting company (Accenture, KPMG, IBM). /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Music | Articles | Freeware | Trips ravib(at)ravib(dot)com

Consulting in the past has kept travelling a lot. It was not uncommon within the same day to be in three different cities at different states. Any large consulting company would do this for you. Another idea is to job hop. I am not sure how well this will work on a long term. You could be something like the technical advisor of a sales team. Naturally sales teams travel a lot. Get involved with a company that requires to install a lengthy product at different worldwide sites. However, you get burn out fast living out of a suitcase.

Look at a semiconductor equipment manufacturer. It is what I did for a long time. The travel was great, the money (per diem) was great, and the work was fun for about 8 months. It's a great way to go if traveling is what you want to do. But, expect 18 hour work days, travel on your weekends on a pin-headed managers whim, and total destruction of any relationship you have. Good Luck Chris Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see. Why are you dressed like that? - Jack Burton

Amen to that!!! I have just such a job and whilst the travel has cut down dramatically this year last year I spent something like 9 months on the road with the longest stay at home of about 5 days. I'd also say that when you've done 9 trips to The Philippines it does take the shine off that particular destination.
