because Lebanon allowed Hezbollah to build a terrorist / war machine near the Israeli border with 1,000s of missles capable of striking civilians and Hezbollah is supported and funded with monies from Iran and armed by Syria - all committed to the destruction of Israel. It was time for Israel to destroy all of that. Had Lebanon held up their end of UN agreements that they disarm Hezbollah, this wouldn't have happened. Yes, I believe there was a lovely custom in Yemen where when a Muslim was convicted of murdering a Jew protected by another tribe would be punished by having another Jew killed that was protected by his own. Oh, and they were living in subjugation, not peace - during the 19th century were not allowed to wear new clothes or ride animals and were subject to exorbitant taxation. Submission is not peace. Submission is not peace. of course it is not but where did you get this from, my sister in law is from Yemen and she said other wise, any way my grand ma had a Jewish neighbor who left Egypt after 1973 war they used to bake cookies for Muslim Byram(Muslim festival) together and eat in Ramadan (fasting month for Muslims) together in my grand ma's house and vise versa ,that what I heard in my family , don’t believe every thing you hear, speaking your way do you know what the Israeli army did to pregnant women in sabra and shatila , search as I cant speak more about this La ILah Ila allah Mohamed Rasoul Allah

I think if you know nothing about something you better not get in a discussion about it,I believe you have never met a Muslim in your life who spoke to you honestly about Islam ,if I called my self Merlin Monro does this make me as beautiful as she was,so if any one goes to a market kills innocent people and himself and calls him self a Muslim that does not mean he is ,you can call your self whatever you want ! one thing ,prophet Mohamed Peace be upon him used to conqure in daylight never at night do you know why,so as not to scare children and panic pregnent women is this a terrorist act ? Nope, but the slaughter of 6-900 'men' (old enough to have grown pubes) from the Banu Qurayza tribe sure was. A competent general he certainly was, though not up to the standards of Alexander. A reasonable lawmaker for his time and place. A prophet.. no. Ryan

Actually, they are targetting Hezbollah positions inside Lebanon, not Lebanon itself. There is quite a difference between the two.

Israel does what it needs to survive as a people. if the countries and peoples on its' border focused on attempting to live a civilized life instead of Israel's destruction then there would be no problem. War, irrespective of the cause/reason/justification, irrespective of the combatants, is a dirty business. Those pictures appear to be valid. Since the pullout in 2000, isreal's been waiting for the lebonese govt to hold up it's side of the bargin and police the border to stop the hezbola attacks. They haven't even tried to do so. There's no indication they ever will try to do so.

http://www.derafsh-kaviyani.com/english/quraiza.html[^]. The banu qurayza were in no way innocent angels, but this action was definitely breaking Mohammed's own rules of war, in sharp contrast to the humane (for the time at least) manner in which he had treated tribes he defeated earlier. I believe some Islamic sources consider it a later Jewish fiction that somehow made it into the hadith.. the Quran only mentions that some were killed and some where taken prisoner. Ryan

As you know, until recently, Syria was pulling the Lebanon Government's strings. And Lebanon Government is presently unable to do anything to stop this current armed conflict.

Since Lebanon could do nothing, Israel has every right to fix this problem with these terrorists. My mom told me once that "while we all don't speak the same language, everyone in the world undestands an asskicking"

By all means eliminate these terrorists on the battlefield. A Beirut housing estate is not a battlefield. It is a place filled with ordinary people - babies, children, pregnant women, and so on. Eliminate the terrorists but NOT extend it to the civilian population. You don't have to terror-bomb densely populated areas. This causes people to react to those acts of barbarity in a not very different way to how Americans reacted when the World Trade Centre buildings were terrorised to destruction. Violence breeds violence - it is a never ending catastophe.
