'Blog' is a buzzword. Other than that, nothing.

Is The Onion a blog? If so, I use it regularly. :)

None. Code Project has pretty much everything I look for :)

What is the difference between today's blog and the once so popular 'personal homepage' several years ago? I never seems to get the differences. All of a suddent, everyone has their own 'blog', while having a personal homepage for free has been around for a long time. Is it because of the content update process or what?

It's not th technology, but the simplicity of publishing. Grandma cannot maintain a website, but she sure can blog. It's the difference between vi and notepad.

A personal homepage has a structure. You can navigate through the topics on a homepage ot find what you really want to read. A blog is a random collection of texts, merely sorted by the day the author thought about publishing them. If you find a blog via Google, you usually get disappointed, because the content you were looking for isn't on the "Today" page anymore.

A blog is a web log, it's designed for frequent updates. A personal homepage may be updated regularly, but if it looks like a blog, it was probably just done that way. This[^] is a fine example of what a cool blog looks like. :->
