you're finally forced to take a break or u admit at last that you actually do need one or u take *another* one  but then you get back to *work* :omg: after a great holiday [btw, always come back on a thursday, NEVER on a monday] how long does it take you on average to get used to a) this thing called a PC [by day 2 :~ ] b) typing [day 3] c) coding [day 3] d) thinking about classes [day 4] e) integrating with this *system* you left behind 2 weeks and a suntan ago? [day 6] f) find the groove u had [a full iteration] g) snapping out of holiday mode [...?]

I find it more difficult to work the days leading up to a holiday more so than the days after a holiday.

It really depends on the amount of work to be done.

meaning: lots of work = *yikes* so takes longer to get back into it OR lots of work = totally motivated and get right back into it? or does also depend on how *good* the holiday was?

I second that! Takes a couple of days to get reaquainted with your mouse and keyboard.

Takes about as long as it does for the tan to fade, before I'm fully back on board and not day dreaming about lying on the beach. :-D

that thing what spearates you from your keyboard for longer than it takes you to sleep between keyboard sessions...

which i reckon is pretty normal... and it's probably a classified syndrome of some sort [or will be given half a chance]. and we joke about needing a holiday to recover from the holiday, but it should be legislated in cos it's unreasonable [and absurb] to expect 100% productivity [hit the floor running *yuk*] from day one... and if you happen to get a really good tan.. well.. hey... :D

It's the latter. More work means much has to be done and fast, no time to be wasted. Also I would say it does not depends on how good the holiday was, but rather how interesting work is. Writing new code good, maintaining old one - meh, bugfixing - meh, doing a lot of repetetive work is good and can be counted as a holiday, but only if it's limited to 1-2 weeks only, then it gets boring...

Holidays should be followed with work days that start at 1 hour and add an hour a day until back to normal.

and... weekends should be classified as holidays

                        Let's execute on the customer-facing market-driven swim-lane paradigm!
