I'm listening to Happy FM[^] from France (pronounced "ah-pee eff emmmmmmm"). No, I have no rational explanation.

Well Mike got me listening to Tom Petty's newest. My current rotation includes: Atomic Bitchwax : Atomic Bitchwax III Monster Magnet: Powertrip Corrosion of Conformity : In the Arms of God Secret Machines: Ten Silver Drops Drive-By Truckers : A Blessing and A Curse Banco de Gaia : Farewell Ferengistan I just noticed Audioslave has a new single, "Original Fire". Am I the only one thinks these guys have fallen way short of their potential?

Yeah, yeah, Christian is gonna rave about some obscure metal band again... Well, actually, I got the Angel City remasters and worked through them, then I went looking through my collection. I went to 'P' (what, you don't think I sort my 800 odd CD's by name ? ), expecting to grab Poison, and I ended up with Pink Floyd. I have the remasters of Wish you were here, Dark Side of the moon and The Wall, and I've listened to them in order. I think I'll start again, this is some pretty timeless music.

I think they are awsome. I've seen them live twice and they were really really good. Second time they did an acoustic Black Hole Sun and a few other Soundgarden classics. I even have a couple of photos [^]

What Iron maiden CD would you recommend to someone who has never listened to any of them, i am quite fond of 80's metal but never got around to listening any of the Iron Maiden songs, so name their best song and cd :)

Their best song is undoubtedly 'hallowed be thy name', and IMO their best CD is 'live after death' a collection of live songs from the first 5 albums, which include a couple that it's impossible to choose between, if I had to pick just one. If forced to pick one studio album, I'd go for 'Number of the beast', but it has some pretty naff tracks on it as well, so 'live after death' has all the good ones from that album, and plenty more besides.

If you can get to the Motley/Aerosmith concerts, I totally recommend it. I've not seen Aerosmith, but they are legendary, and Motley put on a *great* show.

Listening to the Minutemen - Project Mersh. Here's an obscure (and Aussie!) metal band for you, Christian - I bought the first album (Queen of Thieves) by Taramis in 1987/8 - ever heard of them? Standard metal, really, liked the title track (IIRC) when I heard Tommy Vance[^] play it on the Friday Rock Show[^]. Can't remember much else about the album - it's on vinyl and I don't play vinyl much... This[^] is about the only page about them I can find on the web (but our IT people block out around 90% of the Internet, so there may be more pages about them).

Mmmm - do like a nice bit of Monster Magnet - splendidly overblown! In a similar vein - ever heard of Spiritual Beggars?

I've heared a couple of the tracks on the radio, been pretty impressed by the sounds and the concept, but is that any good?
