"Tour de France champion Floyd Landis tested positive for high levels of testosterone during the race, his Phonak team said Thursday on its Web site." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/more/specials/tour_de_france/2006/07/27/landis.doping/index.html?cnn=yes[^] Damn, I hope there's a mistake here, but probably not. :sigh:

I'm very sorry for Landis and for cycling in general, but I’m happy that a guy from my region will be the new winner of the Tour de France. I really doubt that there is a mistake in the analysis. 99.9% of the counter analysis confirm the first results, yet you never know ...

Sad if it is true (and it probably is). I've never understood why people cheat like this and perhaps never will.

If Floyd took a banned substance specifically to improve his performance then he deserves to go down. But with the publicity surrounding the first set of bust I can't believe anyone could be that stupid. He knew he would get tested. I think I'd rather just assume he's more Man than most guys and it was a natural increase due to a long night spent in the room of mirrors having a good, hard look at himself after cracking the previous day

The article does mention that he has hip problems and I can understand taking meds for an existing health condition. Don't mean to drift off topic, but look at Barry Bonds and his bum knees. I hope the testosterone wasn't done for cheating.

Every single time that this test (high testosterone) has been challenged, the rider has won the challenge. I think the B sample will prove he's innocent.

I could not agree more. I have no sympaties for him if he was stupid enough to use substances after that prelude to the Tour. Stupid, stupid and even more stupid. Stip him of his title, give it to Sio (unless he also tested positive :D ...) and ban him for 2-3-5 years. Stupid.

Just read an article that pointed out that drinking a beer the night before the test often leads to a false positive. I don't have the link nor do I know if this is accurate, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Alsvha had an if in his post too.

That would explain the beer muscles that most guys develop while drinking in a bar... Naturally those muscles come with beer goggles where the girls all look prettier through the bottom of a just emptied beer glass.
