I am trying to fill up the technical library at my work with some books, I am looking for good books in the area of UI design. So far I have identified the following books: Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability [^] Designing Interfaces [^] Any other recommendations?

For a bit more of a scientific approach to UIs (not just computers, but physical as well) check out The Humane Interface (ISBN 0201379376)

Totally agree. One of the few books that I've bought the second edition when I already own the previous edition (and yes it is different - much newer examples and updated recommendations). However, it challenges perceived (Microsoft?) wisdom on UI design. Well argued and IMHO ends up in a much more usable product Graham

Try Jef Raskin's book, "The Humane Interface: New Directions for Designing Interactive Systems"

One of the best books ever (was part of my degree course material) is "The Design of Everyday Things" (Sorry, can't remember off-hand the author/publisher) It doesn't focus on development at all; rather, it's a look at design principles for all things used and seen by humans, from doors, to light-switches, to cars, to computer error messages etc. etc. Very entertaining.... :)
