All four are pretty much essential reading for anybody who wants to develop with COM. Essential COM is to me the COM bible. It can be a bit scary at first if you've no COM experience. Effective COM is good, I certainly learnt a lot from it - especially about avoiding connection points. I'd also add ATL Internals onto your list. ATL is the easiest and best way to create COM objects and use them. Michael :-)

Did Don Box REALLY write a book called Essential COM AND one called Effective COM ? I have Essential COM..... No, he mistook CP for piratesRus. He sent me this email: Hi Christian My books are in .Chm format (Combined Help like MSDN CD) And if you want that, you can download it from my Homepage. If you really want those books, e-mail me for my bank account number and address of site for download. Christian The tragedy of cyberspace - that so much can travel so far, and yet mean so little. I'm sure most of us have PC bits and pieces and unused books we'd list if there was a place for it. A book forum would be very cool. Even better, book reviews! Right now, does anyone have any experience with: Beginning ATL 3 COM Programming, Richard Grimes Essential COM, by Don Box Effective COM, by Don Box Inside COM, by Dale Rogerson I have noticed a few of these highly recomended on CP, but all seem to have bad reviews on Amazon. Haven't read the ATL book but both books by Don Box and the one by Dale Rogerson are excellent, excellent. Don Box clearly understands what COM is all about and the initial chapters of Essential COM give a good insight into the essential need and architecture of COM. Effective COM too is a good book once u start doing COM programming. Inside COM is an introduction to COM but personally i'd prefer Essential COM because of the early introdcution of IDL in the book.. char *p="char *p=%c%s%c;main(){printf(p,34,p,34);}";main(){printf(p,34,p,34);} "This statement is false" True/False?
