WTF does that mean? Is it a joke, or are you too important to deign a reply to people? You don't have time to check back for responses? Don't you get automatic email notifications? In a public forum, maybe other people are interested in the responses as well, which they won't see if they email you directly. Geez Tom, you're coming off sounding like an arrogant prick. Marc

I wrote that not pertaining to situations where I'm specifically asking for help, but in situations where I'm posting an opinion on topic where we're all just tossing the bull. I thought it would have been obvious that in a situation where I'm specifically asking for help that I'll manually check back and verify when I have responses. I guess what really bothers me is that you and I have spoken by telephone and emailed many times on ventures and I would think that you know me well enough to know that I'm about as far from arrogant as you can be. Personally, I would have emailed you with a "hey dude, you're sig really looks like you're saying 'xyz', but I know you're not like that so you might want to change that". *sigh* -- modified at 20:33 Sunday 30th July, 2006

You must be really important to have a signature like that. I am sure all us hit and run posters are going to feel very belittled by that. Perhaps you shouldnt be so hard on us. :((

Please read my response to Marc before judging me. That's in my sig and pertains to situations where I'm just making a comment here or there and don't have time to check back for responses (I never get email when I'm responded to) -- modified at 20:34 Sunday 30th July, 2006

I think that Tom considers himself to be a "Hit & Run Poster", and he's warning others that he won't check back for replies.

Thanks Josh. Amazing how nobody remembers that lesson we all learned as children: When you're not certain how someone means something, assume the best. Looks like people were willing to assume the worse without giving me the doubt. -- modified at 20:34 Sunday 30th July, 2006

Yes, but that sounds weird on a post in which he asks a question on a public forum

Yep. My bad on that one. It's in my sig becuase I normally just post opinions on things and have to check back manually if people reply to me directly. I simply forgot to remove it from my sig when I posted for help.

Nah, it's just a sig that can easily be interpreted in different ways. Most people on CP, such as myself, probably don't know you, and when they see the 'MSFT' in your screenname and the all caps MICROSOFT in your sig, they might be inclined to assume that you are "showing off" or something silly like that.

Good point. When you've hung around a given place for so long - such as the lounge here - sometimes you get lax and do forget that not everyone knows everyone else. I've removed the hit/run from my sig.

Perhaps. I still think it's a rude sig. Marc

I figured your sig wasn`t specific to this post. No worries, your good author reputation far outweights your Hit & Run Poster one :)
