As I understand it, PDC was not traditionally an annual event anyway. cheers, Chris Maunder

Russ' comments in the article seem incorrect. TechEd is a SysAdmin conference run annually, that also contains tracks for software and web developers. I've always viewed the show (which I'm at right now), as primarily for deployment and management of MS technologies. You would of course expect the hardware and network companies to dominate the show the place is packed with hardware guys. PDC is only offered when Microsoft needs to evanglise about and educate on new moves in the software platform. PDC is completely about software development. Based on this announcement, my assumption would be that Microsoft is planning to feature the next version of .Net (commonly referred to as V.NEXT), and that they don't feel they'll be in a position to do that until next spring. Probably because things are taking longer to get done than they thought. In my experience, Microsoft has never factored the economic environment in their show scheduling equation. Other conferences certainly do, but TechEd and PDC are must-attend events for their respective segments. Seems to me like Russ has been going a little heavy on the catfish and beer :) David http://www.dundas.com

David Cunningham wrote: Seems to me like Russ has been going a little heavy on the catfish and beer And you Dave? I'm sure it's been all business for you. I mean - New Orleans sounds like drab and dreary place where all you'd want to do is stay indoors attending seminars, right? :P Any gossip, news, dirt, funny stories or shock announcments? cheers, Chris Maunder

David Cunningham wrote: In my experience, Microsoft has never factored the economic environment in their show scheduling equation. I believe that. It would be far to easy to be wrong, for the tiny cost a PDC. David Cunningham wrote: commonly referred to as V.NEXT News to me :-) Thanks David Your explanation soundz a lot more believable than what many journalists will probably make of it.
