    BTW, it was a 3 years old DiamondMax+ 9, 120 GB ATA133 with 2MB buffer.

Well it lasted longer than the ones I got a while back - one lasted just under a year, and the other lasted just over 2 years.

In a way I keep hoping the maxtor on my second computer dies. It gives of a very loud whistling sound. On the other hand, can't really afford to replace it right now so I hope it holds on until I can just buy a new system.

It's my second system. It contains mostly games. The important programs all point to my main system to store files and I back it up fairly regularly. Which reminds me, I need to do a backup.

I've got a system with 2 20GB Maxtor HDDs (really old) and they've both been going for at least 5 years. Never had a single day's problem with them. (although, when I get home tonight now, I'll have found that they've both moved to the big tower in the sky! Sod's Law!)

Come to think of it I've got a 20GB drive that worked for 4 years until I put it aside as an archive a few years ago. I'm sure it still works right now. The 2 drives that failed were 40GB, bought at the same time as each other.
