Which strategy? Microsoft have been around for a long, long time. They've adapted to every challenge that has come up. Some they've won, some they've lost. But they keep going. They aren't afraid to look foolish, they aren't afraid to lose money and aren't afraid to do what it takes. If service oriented architecture is the future, then Microsoft will fight for that platform too. SOA still needs good solid development tools, an okay OS to run on and client applications to interact with the services.

At the moment MS's internal problems are more of a threat than any external factor.

Microsoft fights on all business fronts. It is the nature of the beast. All successful companies fight each day to keep their market and to improve their bottom line.

I find that to be the case in most large companies.

Just search the IBM site for SOA related developments. The Whole IBM technology revolving around SOA phases. [DB2, Lotus Products, Rational Products, Tivoli products, Websphere, workspace..etc.,] I hope you agree the success of SAP is due to its SOA depended technology. Even Sun Microsystem is working hard in SOA technology. But Microsoft is slow in the SOA race.

NO, Umm, you had better look at SAP and it's history.

Only if you believe RPC based services fit the SOA model.

SOA is Microsofts Business Strategy. Services is their new model, just listen to 'ol Ozzie speak, you'll catch it. Its a counter and complement to their piracy and licensing troubles. So... only if they are attacking themselves.

                        This statement is false.
