This is partly, but not wholly, evidenced by the fervour with which, for instance, a large proportion of UK born muslims place being a muslim above being British. I make no claim here as to whether this is right or wrong: I'll leave that for another debate; rather that is just what it is: people make choices all the time about which tribes they belong to and the order of importance and precedence they attach to each and, therefore, this can dictate the actions that they take in support of each of those tribal affiliations.

Cant argue with that. Problems arise when every one of the tribes that comrpise your life are made up exculsivly of muslims or christians or gays or aboriginals etc while others are activly excluded. This is when people seem to loose perspective and tend toward extreamism.

Well that is very hard to judge from the outside. I suspect many muslims beleive that every single person in the west is a devout Christian or Jew intent on their destruction. Personally I am none of those.

I have family in England but have not spent much time there so I cant really comment. Is this partly the result of Muslims clustering together and being able to largely ignore others hence creating the situation I described above?
