translated: A belgian drinks more and more water, soda, fruit - and vegetable juice, coffee, thee and liquor. The consumption of beer and wine lessens. Taken from figures from the FOD economy. In 2005 a belgian drank, on average, 136,1 liter water, 124,9 liter coffee, 120,2 liter soda, 92,5 liter beer, 51,9 liter milk, 30,ç liter fruit-and vegetable juice, 23 liter wine, 11,9 liter thee, 3,5 liter liquor en 3,2 liter chocolate milk. In comparison of 2004 the consumption of water, soda, fruit-and orange juices, coffee, thee and liquor has risen. That of beer and wine lessened. On long term especially the consuption of water and soda has risen. In 1980 an average belgian drank 42 liters of water, 25 years later 136 liter. For soda it's more then double: from 49 liter per head in 1980 to 120 liter in 2005. There are three things that amaze me in this article. 1. The amount of water we seem to drink in comparison with 1980. 2. The amount of soda we drink. 3. We almost drink as much coffee as water :omg: What are the figures in your country? On which average do you participate the most :-)? (I on coffee and beer ;P) The orginal article for those who want to learn dutch: (Belga) De Belg drinkt steeds meer water, frisdrank, vruchten- en groentensap, koffie, thee en sterke drank. (kva)

I know a few who drink about 5 litres of beer a day. And then there is the rum and coke.

5 * 7days = 35 litres AL itre averages 2 units, so that would give us a 70 unit week, not sure the doctor would like that. :omg: I knew a guy I worked with, he was on 92units a week, everyday he would come in shot, with red eyes. He would just stare at the screen most days, never doing any work. Sad thing is he gave up his job to run a pub. I wonder if his liver has packed up yet.

Actually a litre is around 4 units (as a pint of beer is two, and there are just under two pints to the litre. So that's around 140 units a week and as the recommended limit for a human, adult male is around 21 units per week (I believe) the doctor's REALLY not going to like that. So, off to the pub then  -- modified at 7:49 Thursday 17th August, 2006
