"The Big Game" is a multi-state lottery in the US, whose current jackpot is $325M. Winners can choose a lump sum payment or be paid every year. I was surprised to read a CNN article that said the payment option needs to be made when the ticket is purchased. Is this in fact true? There's no mention of the payment mode on my ticket (I didn't select it when I bought the ticket). /ravi "There is always one more bug..." http://www.ravib.com ravib@ravib.com

Depends on the state. Here in Maryland, you apparently get to choose when you win. At least that's what a gas station attendant told me.

At least in Georgia you have to decide at time of purchase. Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

In Arizona, we don't get to play in this one. But we have the Powerball game, which is similar. And we have to mark our payment option when we buy the ticket. I always select the lump sum, as any fool can do better in the market than the annuity option provides.
