Right then. John wins the award for how I'm going to get this out and can therefore award himself a big cheesy grin. The site for my linux book is sort of up. ( In a very basic really need to do some design sort of way ) Beginning KDevelop Programming [^] It's not exactly web friendly at the moment but that should come with time. Of course I'd have published the whole thing here which would have been cheaper and easier but no linux section.

That's a pretty slick idea. I have an article that I never sent to CP on getting KDE (and of course KDevelop) up and running on FreeBSD from scratch if you want to also put that on your site (seeing that it kinda fits).

joke bit Goddammit I haven't even designed the bloody site yet and now you want to contribute which means I've got to completely redesign the site I haven't even designed the first time yet. :sigh: joke bit Sure no problem. If you zip it and email it me pseudonym67@hotmail.com I'll add a contributors section as I go. -- modified at 16:08 Tuesday 22nd August, 2006

If you're designing the site, and you want to easily add new content, check out http://drupal.org/[^, it's a CMS system that I've been pretty happy with. I've used it for my own projects.

¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF!

I like the content of the site alot! But as you mentioned it needs some work, especially, the screenshots and charts. They have been resized and the font is almost illegible. But great job! Looking forward to see updates. BTW, is your book going to be in electronic from only?

Kudos for the site, but I must warn everybody that KDevelop is a horrible IDE - buggy, unintuitive, you name it. In my experience, for *nix programming only plain editors are good enough. I use vim, some other people emacs, and if you think they are weird (they are :) ) NEdit[^] may be a good choice.

It was only meant to be released as pdf and odf. The whole web things just a patently plastic attempt to become popular

Actually the project contains at least one tip of the day section per chapter which lists some of the problems you can run into with KDevelop and the ways in which they can be fixed. Maybe you should read it. Of course if you know some of the problems how to reproduce them and fix them then you can email the to me and they will be included in the project. This project is about how to program with kdevelop. I'm not selling anything.

vim is good too! just not as a programmer's editor. vim is more like notepad, but with child protection. ;)
