USB problems

Yup, I can remember getting my first Hard drive for my Amiga 500 - a whole 450mb - I can remember thinking at the time "god, I'll never fill that"

Nostalgia time. Late 80's - Amstrad 1512 / 1640s. We used to fit a choice of 10Mb or 20Mb hard drives. We spent days working out how to get an 80Mb in when they came out as dos couldn't handle more than 40Mb on a partition. And the GUI interface : GEM. Remember that? Question : Is there a limit on the number of USBs hubs that can be daisy chained? I use the powered sort and currently, similar to Christian, have 8 ports running.

I think the limit is something like 255 ports per host controller.

My family's first PC had a 100MB hard disk. Because we were still using DOS 3.3 (this was in late 1991, DOS 5.0 had just come out but the OEM hadn't upgraded yet), we had to make three 32MB partitions and one approx 4MB one for the rest of the space - DOS 3.3 didn't support variable cluster sizes.

The one on the front is the only one still free, and that's only because my second USB hard drive is not connected right now. Which goes to show, no matter how much space you create, you will fill it. Just like I have 650 Gigs of HDD space, and I have about 20 gig free.

Sounds like you need to cut back on the number of bootleg Pantera concert vids you keep, Christian :-D.

Funny you mention that - 320 gig of it is taken up with stuff copied to DVD from my VHS video collection ( and traded ), and 100 gig is mp3s

Just to be curious... Are all the 100gig legal mp3? (don't answer if you want ;) )... This is a great amount of mp3 there... all metal?
Not all metal, a bit of blues as well. No, not all legal, but anything in there that is still available to buy, I have bought or am hoping to buy. I also have quite a lot that has not been available to buy for some time, but even then, I keep an eye on ebay to buy those.
