    Apple to recall 1.8 million notebook batteries [^] Recall is second-biggest in U.S. history involving electronics or computers. (After Dell, I suppose.) WTF, can't these engineering geniuses get it right?

        IIRC the underlying culprit is Sony, who made the batteries in both recalls.

          Did Sony say that they are willing to pay all Dll recalled batteries? Maybe I heard of it wrong.

              They're pushing the limit of battery technology (weight and size to power storage), and it doesn't take much of a mistake to go over the limit. Still, they really ought to do more rigorous testing, and add more of a safety margin.
