My copy of Visual Systems Journal came this morning with the winners of this years reader awards in it. (www.vsj.co.uk[^]) Best web resource for developers: The Code Project Runners up: MSDN, Experts Exchange Well done Chris and the team  What's that, the 3rd year in a row for this award? Great stuff guys, keep it up. If you're a VSJ reader, it's on page 12 of the September issue. Page 15 has my 'employ me' ad on it ;) - I was recently made redundant...

Cool. But, how can Experts Exchange rate up there ? I mean, on the odd occasion I've googled for info and it was there, I've been asked to pay a subscription fee to read it ( which I have never done )

There are a lot of people in the world who do pay I would guess.

Do you find it any good? In general I mean... I can't make my mind up about it, every now and then it has a good article, but most of the time I just read the IAP news (I'm a member), and the book reviews, then stick it in the recycling. Don't get me wrong, for a free publication it's a great effort, but I know they do try to sell it (for a fiver), and personally I don't think it's worth that price tag.

It's worth every penny I paid for it. Seriously, for a free magazine it is exceptionally good. However, as you say, it isn't worth the £5 they try and sell it for.

It's been one of the greatest communities, and while the spirit is gone, their format still can help solving complex problems and provide an in-depth discussion which isn't possible on the either much faster paced or less frequented boards here on CodeProject. Oh, yeah, as someone else said, you can read the answers :)

So do you ever get any type of physical token of the award? If so do you keep them? If you do take a picture of all of them (if it's a convenient thing to do) and post it. Be cool to see the trophy wall that CP members have helped to fill.

The only thing like that, that I recall, was a few years back, everyone sent in postcards from all over the world and Chris put them up on the walls and took several pictures of them. I don't know how many he ended up with (there were quite a few), but it was cool nonetheless.
