How far to do you commute to work
-
I was sitting in traffic today, and wondered .. so how far do most CPians have to commute to get to work ? I myself have to travel 60 miles one way, and it takes about 1.5 hours on average.

7 miles through some glorious but flat countryside. If I cycle 20-40mins depending on how eager I am (so 40 mins!). 45mins if I drive. Jeremy Davis http://www.astad.org

I can't imagine having a commute that takes longer than 30 or 40 minutes. Right now, it's about 1.5 miles. 5-15 minutes driving, depending on traffic. 20-30 minutes biking. About 35-45 minutes walking. Mosf ot that time (in all 3 methods) is waiting for stoplights to change. The most I've ever commuted was 12 miles. That was in northern New England (NH and VT), where cattle outnumber cars, so 12 miles meant about 12 minutes. :) But ociffer! I only had tee martoonis!

Hmm. Tough to say without measuring. I'd say about 40 feet from my bedroom door to the office door :) Commute time? Well there was this one morning where I first went to the kitchen to get a coke. Took me like 3 freakin' minutes to get to work! Completely unacceptable! I then purchased a small fridge for the office so that I never have to suffer through that kind of nightmarish commute again. Now, it takes about 30 seconds to get to work    Cheers, Tom Archer Author, Inside C# Please note that the opinions expressed in this correspondence do not necessarily reflect the views of the author.

3.5 miles each way. takes me 20 mins by car and 15-17 mins by bike, unless it's raining, in which case it takes >30 mins by car. bike timings remain unchanged Paresh Solanki Freudian Slip When you say one thing and mean a mother.

Depends on where I am working, but it can be anywhere from a 25 - 45 minute drive ... depending on wether the kids are at school or not. Regards Ray "Je Suis Mort De Rire"

Its only 1 mile for me if I don't have to srop my 2 girls at the school gates (which I do for their safety every morning - school holidays are bliss). So It then becomes about 10 miles. Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 yet to be identified being from the planet Paltinmoriumbanfrettybooter

Definitely a good attitude to have Joao and while we all know this in our more lucid moments it's always good to be reminded that it does not good to get worried about things. They always seem to work out regardless of how much we worry. As the man said, "Worry is like interest paid on a debt that never comes due." On a bad day, lots of traffic-bad weather-etc.. it takes me about 12 min. to get to the office. On a good day about 8 min. This is all on surface streets, no freeway involved. As a matter of fact I have exactly 7 red lights coming and 9 lights going back ( a one way street is involved so the routes are slightly different.) Richard If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report. If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, and your data is corrupted 'cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!!!
