You should tile your garage first - then you'd be able to live there in comfort. Well, tiles anyway.

I'm having a hard time picturing what "getting a house tiled" means. The floor? The walls? The ceiling? The roof? And why would you tile your entire house (even if I give you the benefit of the doubt, that you're just tiling the floor). I would imagine the whole thing would look like one big bathroom. Hopefully you're not using porcelain tiles, but then I assume you're tiling with something else, like vinyl fake something or other flooring, so I'm still left wondering, why. Marc

Why not just tile one room at a time, avoiding the room being tiled?

I bet your mom just loved all that tile grout, bent nails, and leftover roofing shingles in the birth canal.

If it's a small house, he could be getting a quantity discount for having it done all at once. I recarpeted most of my old house prior to putting it on the market. I ended up with a 25% discount on the installation charges since I could let them do all of the work at once. We moved all of the furniture into the family room (it was a big room). My wife and daughter stayed at my mother-in-law's for a week, while I slept on the couch (I had to be there to let the installers in every day). Making them do the work piece-meal means they have to stop earlier in the day to give you time to move stuff around from room to room, or you can pay them a real premium to have them move your furniture.

I live in Arizona (the lower left four corners state). I'm getting the floors tiled only and the tiles are 1'' thick and 12'' x 12'' wide. Saltillo tile is made of kln fired clay. Saltillo is made in Saltillo, Coahuilla, Mexico.

Ah, I did some house sitting for a friend who had a house in Mexico (near Playas) and the house had tiled floors. It was quite nice, very easy to clean, but cold! I'd forgotten about the tiles in that house! Marc
