    At those speeds, it took a real driver to drive it. That was my point. Aero is for pussies who don't know how to do a proper four-wheel drift.

    I think it's in the sport's interest that people do finish all laps every once in a while. :)

          (I know many of you don't care about F1 but myself and a few others here do.) So, Schumi has announced his retirement. Glad I got to see his final Italian GP and will hopefully get to watch his final 3 races. I am glad I was around F1 during his era, a hugely impressive one at that. Will we get to see a driver of his calibre in our lifetimes again?

            First, F1 lost it's appeal for me in 1968 when they started adding wings to the cars. I say put Schumaker in a 1967 BRM, and let's see how good he really is... If he can make a BRM dance with a Lotus or an Eagle, I'll admit that he's a good driver. Until then, he's just another also-ran to me... -- modified at 11:48 Monday 11th September, 2006

              Did you know you can buy a 1/18 scale diecast of a 1967 Eagle-Weslake? I have one, and it's beautimous. I think a 1967 Lotus is available too. Cars from that era (any motorsport genre you might care to mention) had much more style and looks than any 10 modern race cars you migt care to mention. I especially like the late 50's - late 60's Le Mans cars. :)

                Did you know you can buy a 1/18 scale diecast of a 1967 Eagle-Weslake? I have one, and it's beautimous. I think a 1967 Lotus is available too.                     I'm glad to see him go. He still can be dangerously childish when things aren't going his way. I truly dislike him. But, at his best he really was a brilliant driver (watch his race at Spa about 1995) and to ignore that is to stick your head in the sand. One aspect about Schumacher that is often overlooked is just how good a test driver he is. I believe this made a bigger difference than anything else. Yes, he was favored at Ferrari, but the reason his car was consistently better than those of his various teammates was because he could tell his engineers exactly what to change for his driving style. Whether another driver will soon replace him. Probably not for the simple reason that the people running Formula 1 want boring, faceless drivers. I'm half convinced that the FIA and teams would prefer just sitting around race Sunday and debate who should win based on all sorts factors rather than actually race. Nigel Mansell was a real bastard, but a great driver. Wouldn't even get a test drive today. Few of the "greats" would. Kimi, Alonso, Kubica, etc. are all talented drivers, but collectively have less personality than a piece of wood. (Unfortunately, this tendency toward blandness and mediocrity is affecting all of society.)

                      You have no idea who Brocky is? :wtf: As rare home-grown dinky-die true-blue Aussie celebrity he was trucked out to anything remotely needing a celebrity. Well, anything to do with cars, or road safety, or selling Holdens, or... (you get the gist). If you saw him you'd know him.
