I inquired for the Dell inspiron 6400 series. That has everything I need. But :wtf: It costs only 33,000 Rupees in U.S but it goes above 45,000 Rupees in India. Almost 50,000 Rs. Sh*t. I dont know why is this f*cking difference in the price. X| I should only get it if any of friends return from U.S .

Dell Laptop itself is very cheap, it's the associated Fire Extinguisher that costs a lot :)

I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

For computers, phones, cars etc. India is a far more expensive country than the US. Cost of living for a gadget-lover is really low in the US - which is why a lot of Indians move to the US (India's too expensive to live in, specially with the lower income levels).

The irony is that in India , the salary is low but the gadets' costs are high but in US it's the opposite. Btw, Nish, these gadgets include T.V too right? Few months before my sister bought a Sony Projection T.V with 6.1 Matrix digital Surround - amplier -speaker. It came to around 1.3 lakhs. It should be certainly cheaper in the US. :( I hate spending money on TVs.. with half the money she spent on the TV, I'd have built a AMD 64bit Dual Core + with the best ATI or Nvidia graphics + Gbs of RAM + 17inch TFT woowww... :(.. in the US I think we can do still more. I miss that live :sigh:

US rate: 10 pieces of pocket fluff Indian rate: 10,000 pieces of pocket fluff You see, Dell is currently trying to take over the world's pocket fluff economy so they can release it into thier PCs and cause them to overheat and die much quicker. This is why there is always so much dust inside a Dell computer of any age. Clearly there is more pocket fluff in India so its relative value is lower. P.S. Maybe if you send them more pocket fluff they'll upgrade the Hard disk!

Hey Vivek, Are you disputing my statement that gadgets cost less in the US than in India? I have personal experiences with cars, laptops, desktops, phones, mp3 players where the US cost was lower than the Indian cost - and when you factor in the 6x-8x increase in Salary, the difference becomes even bigger.

Nope, I haven't inquired about other gadgets. But mostly it's less expensive in the US. I'm very much sure about Camcoders, Digital cams , and now notebooks. All these are comparitively less expensive in US.

My friend just bought one from the US, I think it's got an year global warranty. 3 would be really great.
